Why?

Fair question.

It started with a good friend of ours, John "The Bear". John has a chest of truly heroic proportions, and he has long been convinced that if the world could only see it, millions of people would rate his fur very highly indeed.

We had doubts. John had none. There was only one way to settle it.

So here we are. Now we can find out.

Seriously though

It's a bit of fun. ratemyfur is an experiment with websites and AI: how far can you get with a site that checks its own photos, blurs faces before they leave your phone and removes anything on request, all without anyone sitting in a back room playing moderator?

It's also a gentle celebration of chest hair in every shape, shade and quantity: light fuzz, medium pile and full rug, on every kind of body. Nobody here is a model. That's the point.

And John?

Who knows, maybe John will become a billionaire off the back of it. If not, at least one person will enjoy his fur. (It's John.)
